Grant Gosch Airlifted to Hospital After Willits Truck Accident on Highway 101 near Mile Post Marker 44
Van Driver Seriously Injured After Colliding with Semi-Truck on Highway 101 in Willits
Willits, California: One person was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a traffic collision involving a van and a truck tractor-trailer Wednesday morning in Willits.
The California Highway Patrol Ukiah Office said the crash occurred around 1:38 a.m. on the Willits Bypass section of Highway 101 near Mile Post Marker 44.
A preliminary investigation revealed that an Econo-type passenger van was stationary and blacked out in the traffic lane when a loaded semi-truck and trailer slammed into it.
The driver and sole occupant of the van, identified as Grant Gosch, of Cottonwood, sustained serious life-threatening injuries. Emergency personnel airlifted the patient to Enloe Hospital in Chico.
The driver of the big rig, Geovanny Larreynaga, of Carmichael, was not injured.
Highway 101 was reduced to one-way traffic during the investigation.
