Vickie Stevens Dies after Santa Paula Pedestrian Accident at Steckel and Harvard

Santa Paula, California – A woman in a wheelchair suffered major injuries after being struck by a pickup truck on Wednesday afternoon in Santa Paula.

The auto-pedestrian accident happened around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Steckel Drive and Harvard Boulevard, according to the Santa Paula Police Department.

Authorities say the woman was northbound on Steckel Drive and was crossing Harvard Boulevard when she was struck.

The pedestrian, who was later identified as Vickie Stevens, was found pinned underneath the pickup truck and was extricated. She was transported to Ventura County Medical Center before being airlifted to a trauma center in Los Angeles.

Sadly, the woman succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.

The 31-year-old Santa Paula man who was driving the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
