Conrad Duenas Killed, Federico Avina Arrested After Motorcycle Accident on Crows Landing Road in Modesto
Victim and Suspect of Fatal Modesto DUI Crash Identified
Modesto, California: Authorities identified the victim and suspect of a fatal motorcycle accident that happened Saturday night in Modesto.
46-year-old Conrad Duenas of Modesto died in the crash, the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office said.
Federico Avina of Patterson was arrested following the collision.
According to police, Duenas was riding a red 2020 Harley-Davidson Heritage northbound on Crows Landing, approaching Ehrlich Road. At the same time, Avina was driving a white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck southbound on Crows Landing Road at about 35 mph, approaching the intersection.
Avina failed to yield the right of way to Duenas and made a left turn onto Ehrlich, directly into the path of the motorcycle.
Duenas was unable to stop on time and hit the right side of the pickup. The force of the impact ejected him from the bike. He came to rest under the pickup.
Emergency personnel pronounced the rider dead at the scene.
Authorities said it was raining at the time of the accident.
Police established that Avina was impaired at the time of the crash. He was arrested and booked into jail.
