Nils Gustavson Killed in Lompoc Car Accident on Highway 246 near Mission Gate Road

Victims of Lompoc Head-On Collision on Highway 246 Identified

Lompoc, California: Authorities identified the man and woman who were involved in a head-on collision that happened Sunday afternoon in Lompoc.

Nils G. Gustavson, 44, of Lompoc, died in the crash, and Dillon Carter Sederlan, 28, of Solvang, was hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries.

The collision involved a 1997 Saab sedan and a pickup truck. The sedan crossed the double yellow lines from the westbound lane and collided head-on with the eastbound pickup truck.

The pickup spun in a counterclockwise motion and came to a stop facing a southerly direction.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

Gustavson was driving the sedan and died in the accident.

Sederlan was driving the pickup and was taken to Lompoc Valley Medical Center for treatment.

The highway was closed between Mission Gate and Sweeney roads during the investigation.
