Violent Long Beach Crash Leaves One Person Dead

Long Beach, California: A man died in a two-car accident that happened Monday evening near an intersection in Long Beach.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. near Pacific Coast Highway and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue just outside 7-Eleven.

According to the Long Beach Fire Department, two cars collided near the intersection, and one of the cars hit a man reportedly sitting at a bus bench.

The pedestrian was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

The driver of one of the cars was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other driver was treated and released at the scene.

Police said one of the cars may have been speeding prior to the collision.

One of the cars appeared to be split in half and a bus bench was ripped from the sidewalk and resting in the parking lot near the 7-Eleven.

An investigation is ongoing.
