Woman Dies after Bag of Cement Crashes through Windshield on SR 52 in San Diego

San Diego, California – A female passenger in her 70s died after construction fell on her SUV on Friday afternoon in Clairemont Mesa.

At around 1 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received reports of a freak accident on State Route 52 near eastbound 805 Freeway.

Authorities say the driver of a Chevrolet stake-bed truck lost control as he was exiting from southbound Interstate 805 onto eastbound SR-52 and overturned, spilling its load.

A bag of cement reportedly crashed through the windshield of an eastbound Mercedes-Benz SUV below the bridge.

A female passenger in the car was killed in the accident.

The drivers of the SUV and the truck were unhurt.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
