Woman Dies After Rear-Ending Tractor in Buttonwillow

Buttonwillow, California: A 21-year-old Bakersfield woman died after her car crashed into the back of a tractor Monday morning in Buttonwillow.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 6:54 p.m. on Rowlee Road near Burbank Street.

The woman was driving a 2016 Nissan Sentra northbound on Rowlee when she failed to slow down for a John Deere tractor traveling in front of her at about 20 mph.

The Nissan slammed into the tractor’s rear backhoe bucket.

The Bakersfield woman was killed in the accident.

33-year-old Victor Duartze Lopez was driving the tractor and sustained minor injuries.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors.
