Woman Dies, Man Seriously Injured in Wrong-Way Accident on SR-99 in Pleasant Grove

Pleasant Grove, California: A 25-year-old Marysville woman died, and a 46-year-old man was hospitalized after a wrong-way collision that happened early Sunday morning near Pleasant Grove.

The wreck took place on northbound State Route 99 south of Howsley Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, dispatchers received a 911 call about a car driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway around 2:34 a.m. One minute later, another call came in about a multi-vehicle accident in the area.

CHP officers responded to the scene and found a Chrysler Pacifica that had collided head-on with a GMC Denali.

The Marysville woman was driving the Chrysler the wrong way and died at the scene.

The 46-year-old man was driving the GMC and was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
