Woman Fatally Hit by Several Vehicles in Palo Alto

Palo Alto, California: A woman died after she was struck by three vehicles Monday night at an intersection in Palo Alto, police said.

The incident was reported around 9 p.m. at Embarcadero and Newell roads.

According to investigators, a woman in her 20s was stopped astride her bicycle in the far left lane of eastbound Embarcadero Road, possibly waiting for a green arrow to turn left onto northbound Newell Road.

The woman was hit from behind by a man driving a blue 2023 Honda Accord. The driver stopped after the crash.

The cyclist was thrown by the force of the impact into the intersection, where she was hit by two other cars. Those two vehicles did not stop after the accident.

Emergency personnel pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene.

The Accord driver informed investigators that the vehicle was equipped with a dashcam that captured the initial incident.

Authorities are still collecting more information about the crash.
