Woman Dies after Anaheim Pedestrian Accident near South Rio Vista Street and Wagner Avenue
Woman Fatally Struck by DUI Driver after Car Veers Off Road in Anaheim
Anaheim, California: 33-year-old Raymundo Rangel was arrested after a crash that left a woman dead Tuesday evening in Anaheim.
According to Anaheim police, the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the area of South Rio Vista Street and Wagner Avenue near the Santa Ana River.
Police officers responded to the area after they were notified about a single-car crash.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the officers determined that Rangel was driving a silver Mercedes-Benz at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car and went off the road.
As the officers were investigating, a man who lives in the area reported his wife had not returned home from a walk along the greenbelt.
Authorities later found the woman dead in nearby brush after a search.
Police determined that the car had hit the pedestrian as she walked along the greenbelt.
Ranger and his passenger were hospitalized with minor injuries.
The driver was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.
