Woman Hit and Killed by Truck on Merced Avenue in Delhi
Merced County, California: A woman died after she was struck by a pickup truck Tuesday night in Delhi, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision occurred around 9:04 p.m. on Merced Avenue north of Bloss Road.
According to police, a Delhi resident was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 northbound on Merced Avenue at approximately 35 mph.
At the same time, a San Jose woman was walking northbound on the right shoulder of Merced Avenue with a shopping cart.
Authorities said for an unknown reason, the woman turned directly in the path of the pickup truck and got hit.
The woman died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The truck driver stopped and remained at the scene.
Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be contributing factors.
