Woman Killed in DUI Collision on Highway 395 near Poplar Street

Hesperia, California – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision that happened on Thursday evening in Hesperia.

At around 6:31 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department received reports of a traffic collision on Highway 395 near between Poplar and Main Streets.

Jose Vargas, 41, from Adelanto, was driving a car southbound on Highway 395 when he drifted into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with a car driven by Lisette Villasenor, 36, from Victorville.

Villasenor suffered major injuries and was transported to the hospital where she later died.

Villasenor’s two young children were transported to a local trauma center after sustaining moderate to major injuries.

Vargas was not injured. He was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was booked on felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated charges.

Hesperia police are investigating the crash.
