Woman Killed in Richmond San Rafael Bridge Crash Identified

Richmond, California: 19-year-old Darolyn Alejandra Reyes Rodas from San Rafael was identified as the woman who died in a two-vehicle collision that happened Sunday evening on the Richmond San Rafael Bridge.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. on westbound Interstate 580 at midspan on the bridge.

According to the Marin County Coroner’s Division, a silver Honda sedan was speeding on the bridge when the driver attempted to make a lane change and hit the back of a slower moving white Mazda SUV.

The Honda rolled multiple times and came to a stop resting on its roof in traffic lanes.

Reyes Rodas was a passenger in the Honda. Bystanders stopped and pulled her from the car with multiple traumatic injuries and unconscious. The Bystanders performed CPR before first responders arrived

Reyes Rodas was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Honda driver was hospitalized with major injuries.

Authorities said the occupants of the Mazda were not injured.

Investigators are still collecting more information to help determine the cause of the collision.
