Woman Killed in Shasta Bicycle Accident on SR 299 near Rocky Ridge
Shasta County, California – A 38-year-old woman was killed in a bicycle accident on Monday night near Burney in Shasta County.
The accident happened at around 9 p.m. on Highway 299 near Rocky Ridge Road at around 9 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman was riding a bicycle east on the south shoulder when she was struck by a 2015 Subaru Impreza traveling eastbound.
Authorities say the Subaru drifted off the road and onto the shoulder and struck the bicyclist.
The woman was ejected from the bicycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The name of the woman was not immediately disclosed.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
