Woman Seriously Injured in Crash Involving Semi-Truck in San Pasqual
San Pasqual, California: An elderly woman sustained life-threatening wounds when her car was struck by a big rig after being involved in a solo-vehicle collision Thursday morning in the San Pasqual area of San Diego.
The incident happened at about 11:20 a.m. on San Pasqual Valley Road near Bandy Canyon Road, a few miles from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
Investigators said a 72-year-old woman was driving a Honda SUV when, for unknown reasons, allowed the car to leave the roadway and crash into a hillside.
The SUV overturned and landed back in the roadway, where it was hit by a big rig.
The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries by emergency personnel.
The 33-year-old man driving the semi-truck was treated for minor injuries.
The San Diego Police Department is investigating the accident.
