East Hollywood, California: A wrong-way driver was killed in a fiery car collision that happened Monday morning on the 101 Freeway in East Hollywood.

Police and firefighters responded to the southbound lanes of the freeway near the Santa Monica Boulevard exit after receiving reports of a collision involving a wrong-way car at around 4 a.m.

The responders found three vehicles involved in the crash, and two of them engulfed in flames.

The wrong-way driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of a pickup truck was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

Two other people were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a red Prius was traveling northbound on the southbound side when the car sideswiped a sedan and then crashed head-on into a pickup truck.
