3 Motorcyclists Killed in Chain-Reaction Collision on I-5 near Camp Pendleton
Camp Pendleton, California: Three motorcyclists were killed, and several others were hospitalized after a chain-reaction collision that took place early Thursday morning near Camp Pendleton.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 3 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5, just south of Las Pulgas Road.
CHP said the driver of a Jeep Wrangler was traveling south on I-5 when they veered and struck the guardrail. The vehicle came to a stop in the southbound traffic lanes, where it was hit by a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van that overturned.
Four motorcyclists who were riding as a group then hit the van.
Three of the motorcyclists were pronounced dead at the scene.
Five other people, including the driver of the van, were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
All southbound traffic lanes were shut down following the collision. Traffic backed up into Orange County. Northbound traffic was also backed up into Oceanside and Carlsbad.

Sacramento County, California: Two people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon at an intersection in Antelope.
According to the Sacramento Metro Fire District, the accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. at Antelope and Roseville roads.
Three vehicles collided, trapping two occupants in the wreckage.
Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the victims. The patients were taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.

Kenneth Joseph McLeod Killed in Irvine Motorcycle Accident
Irvine, California: 65-year-old Kenneth Joseph McLeod died after he collided with a car while riding a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in Irvine.
The accident was reported around 4:50 p.m. at Alton Parkway and Foster.
Investigators said McLeod was riding a motorcycle southbound on Alton when he ran a red light at Foster and crashed into a Tesla turning left from northbound Alton onto westbound Foster.
The Tesla had a green light at the time of the crash.
McLeod died at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Woman Hospitalized After Victorville Pedestrian Accident at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road
Woman on Motorized Wheelchair Hit and Injured by Car in Victorville
Victorville, California: A woman riding a motorized wheelchair was injured when she was hit by a car Thursday morning at an intersection in Victorville.
The accident was reported around 8:48 a.m. at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road.
Victorville police, firefighters, and AMR responded to the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
A man driving a black Nissan was found at the scene but it was not clear if he was the driver involved in the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
