Google has announced that Gmail, the company’s famous email program, will be getting a new look. The revamp gets expected to be part of Google’s new Workspace ambitions, which would bring Gmail closer to Google Chat, Meet, and Spaces within the Gmail window. The new update will allow users to move between four buttons in the new layout: Mail, Chat, Spaces, and Meet.

According to Google, the new Gmail with the integrated view will be available to all users by Q2 2022. It means you could experience the new interface before June of this year.

Users of Google Workspace can start testing the new integrated view on February 8, according to the Google Workspace blog. Instead of a single unified layout for Gmail, Chat, and Meet, users will be able to move between four buttons – Mail, Chat, Spaces, and Meet.

According to Google, users will only see an enlarged view of one of the four buttons at a time, with support for Notification bubbles keeping them informed about what’s going on in the other tabs.

Users who update to the new layout will get the same list of mail and label options as before, according to Google. Workspace tool modifications got initially mentioned in September 2021. Users could make one-on-one calls with other Gmail users without using the Google Meet link, one offered capabilities.

Users who haven’t yet tested the new Gmail layout will get switched to it by April, Google said, adding that users will be able to roll back the change for some time until it becomes permanent by the end of Q2 2022.

The updates will be available to Google Workspace Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Plus, Frontline, and Nonprofits, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers, but not to Google Workspace Essentials customers, according to Google.
