Fans of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt will have to wait a little longer to see him return to action in the Mission: Impossible franchise. The highly anticipated Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 films have been postponed further because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sad but true!!
Paramount Pictures has postponed the publication of the two installments in the long-running spy series, owing to the ongoing pandemic crises, and tells the fans to wait a bit more. The Mission Impossible 7, set for September 30th, has been pushed back to July 14, 2023. Mission: Impossible 8’s release date has been pushed back from July 7, 2023, to June 28, 2024.
The seventh film, which Skydance co-produced, was scheduled to debut on July 23, 2021, but got continually postponed as the public health situation changed.
COVID-19 has also created a delay in the film’s production. Mission: Impossible films are famously tough to shoot due to the various stunts and effects, with the filmmaking team striving to use their green screen as possible. They also fly from one foreign port of call to the next regularly.
“In response to the growing epidemic, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have chosen to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 and 8. The new release dates are July 14, 2023, and June 28, 2024, “In a joint statement, the two firms noted.
The firm stated, “We look forward to offering moviegoers with an exceptional theatre experience.”
The cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt. The IMF agent with nine lives and estimation for hanging off airplanes, skyscrapers, mountains, and pretty much any high-altitude edifice or projectile he can get his hands on in the two films in the series.
The two movies of the action franchise will get directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who previously directed Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, and Angela Bassett get cast members.
Apart from the future Mission: Impossible films, Cruise has another high-profile Paramount release this year, Top Gun: Maverick, which hits theatres on May 27.
